Playful Cafe - Bishopston

Monday, 24 March 2014

Last week we headed to the Playful Cafe in Bishopston with our boys to catch up over a latte (and babyccino) and chat all things Bristol With Kids.

I'd heard of Playful Cafe from a friend when they were at their previous location in Redland but never managed to get round to visiting. I had been told their new location was much more spacious but with the same chilled out atmosphere so I was really eager to visit.

I have to say it didn't disappoint! If you are not so much of a fan of the regular soft play type set ups and never really got on with playgroups then Playful cafe is for you. With plenty of wooden and imaginative toys such as play kitchen and trains tracks our boys were immediately distracted. It also hosts a playhouse and separate room for younger babies.

Whats lovely about the Playful Cafe is it is really calm, perhaps as it's a little off the main roads and doesn't quite get the footfall that the soft plays closer to the centre would. Although there were a fair few parents there it has a lovely friendly atmosphere and never the manic feeling you sometimes get from children focused spaces.

One of the details I really appreciated was their kids lunch, you are able to pick five items of a list of child friendly foods for £2.50 which is a lot cheaper than many other kids meal deals. I'm also told their cake is fantastic.

We'll be back for sure!

You can find Playful Cafe on their website for more into or on  Facebook
