Leigh Woods - a winter walk

Friday, 7 February 2014

One of our favourite Bristol forest walks is to Leigh Woods, just over the Clifton Suspension Bridge. It works in any season and depending on the time of year you visit changes the experience. We love pulling on our coats (and cowboy hats!!) and hitting the woods for a winter ramble!

What I love about the National Trust part of Leigh Woods is they have a brilliant playground made to blend into the forest background - logs to climb over, balance beams, swings and lots of dens.

It's so close to the city centre and yet so quickly you can be out in the middle of a beautiful forest and all of the freedom that brings. It's a wonderful place to bring scooters, bicycles or just to come for a run about.

They also run numerous family-friendly events such as den building, evening walks and woodland survival courses for kids! You can check out their events here.

We look forward to seeing you again soon and hope others feel inspired to come and visit after reading this.
