Brandon Hill - Clifton, Hotwells, Centre

Friday, 21 February 2014

When the sun shines over Bristol there is no better place to be than running around the green space of Brandon Hill.

Tucked away beside Park Street and straddling Clifton and Hotwells you can be forgiven for not even knowing it is hiding there. Yet it is a huge space, so perfectly enclosed yet with a great sense of freedom and space and has belonged to the people of Bristol since the 12th century.

What I especially love are the different spaces. There are playgrounds to play in, slide down and swing around on!

There are hills to run up and down - wonderful in the winter sunshine and perfect paired with ice creams in the summer.

There are gardens and wildlife sanctuaries with frog breeding areas in the ponds and wild flowers in abundance.

And, of course, there is Cabot's Tower, looking down on it all in commemoration of Cabot's journey to the Americas in 1497 and such a great symbol of Bristol.

We love Brandon Hill, there's so much to do and so much fun to be had...and it's a great space for burning off a bit of excess energy!
